Description

Something in your house is getting chewed today. That part was never really up to you — the only choice you get is what.

Docabu chews are made from retired coffee trees in Vietnam: trees that have finished producing beans and would otherwise be cleared and burned. The wood is naturally dense and completely untreated — no chemicals, no additives, and no caffeine, because caffeine lives in the bean and not in the timber.

What makes it different

  • Designed to flake, not shard. Coffee wood wears away in soft fibres instead of splitting into the sharp fragments you get from a garden stick.
  • Built to last. Denser than most natural chews, so there is genuinely something there to work at.
  • One ingredient. No coatings, flavourings, glues or preservatives. Just wood.
  • Zero caffeine. None in the wood, and none added.

How to use it

Choose a chew your dog cannot fit fully into their mouth — if you are between two sizes, go up. Let them settle somewhere comfortable and work at it. Fine fibres will flake away as they chew; that is the design doing its job, not the chew failing. Supervise every session, keep fresh water nearby, and retire the chew once it wears down small enough to swallow whole.

Our promise

We are a new Australian brand, and we would rather earn your trust than ask you to take a risk. If your dog tries it and it is not right, email hello@docabu.com within 30 days and we will make it right. No forms, no conditions.

Why coffee wood, and not a stick

Your dog is going to chew something today. The only real question is what.

Sticks off the lawn split along the grain into sharp fragments. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather trade and is chemically processed long before it reaches a dog. Nylon and plastic chews do not break down at all, and whatever comes off them has to go somewhere.

Coffee wood behaves differently because of how it grew. Coffee trees grow slowly and dense, and once they have finished producing beans they are cleared. That retired wood wears away in soft fibres rather than splitting into shards — so there is something to work at, without the sharp edges.

There is one ingredient. Nothing is added to it, because nothing needs to be. The full safety guide is here.

How it works

Three things worth knowing before the first chew.

Four Docabu coffee wood chews laid out beside a wooden ruler to show their size

1. Pick the right size

Choose a chew your dog cannot fit fully into their mouth. Between two sizes, always go up.

2. Let them work at it

Fine fibres flake away as your dog chews. That is the design working, not the chew failing.

3. Retire it early

Supervise every session, and take the chew away once it is small enough to swallow whole.

Which size?

Go by weight, and by how hard your dog actually chews.

Small Breeds

Up to 10 kg
  • Puppies and small adults
  • Light to moderate chewers
  • A sensible first chew

Medium & Strong Chewers

10 kg and up
  • Medium and large breeds
  • Determined, powerful chewers
  • More wood, so it lasts longer

Caught between the two? Choose the larger one. A chew your dog cannot fit fully in their mouth is the safer chew. · Full size guide

Questions people actually ask

Is coffee wood actually safe for dogs?

Coffee wood is a dense natural hardwood that wears down in soft fibres rather than splitting into sharp fragments the way a garden stick does. No chew is indestructible and none is risk-free — supervise every session, and retire the chew once it is small enough to swallow whole.

Does it contain caffeine?

No. Coffee wood comes from the tree, not the bean — caffeine lives in the bean. Nothing is added to the wood either: no coatings, flavourings or preservatives.

Why is my dog flaking bits off it?

That is what it is meant to do. Coffee wood gives up fine fibres as your dog works at it, instead of splitting into shards. Brush the loose pieces aside as you go.

How long will one last?

Honestly, it depends entirely on the dog. A gentle chewer can have one for months; a determined one will get through it much faster. That is why the packs exist — they work out cheaper per chew.

Which size should I get?

Small Breeds suits dogs up to about 10 kg and lighter chewers. Medium & Strong Chewers suits dogs from around 10 kg up, and any dog that goes hard at a chew. If you are between the two, size up. There is a full size guide if you want the detail.

I grabbed a bag of these for my whippet and she absolutely loves them. She’s a pretty fussy princess with chews so I was stoked to find something that she actually goes for.

I hooked up my neighbours with some as well a French bulldog, Lab and Cocker Spaniel and they all loved them.

I love spoiling my girl and her mates. Great Aussie business and a ripper product I’ll definitely be getting more!

Thank you!
